Skin tags removal
What are skin tags?
Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths that hang off the skin and look a bit like warts.
They're very common, harmless, and can vary in colour and size – from a few millimetres up to 5cm (about 2 inches) wide.
Skin tags tend to grow in the skin folds, where the skin rubs against itself, such as on the neck, armpits or groin. This is why they tend to affect overweight people who have excess folds of skin and skin chafing. They'll appear around the neck, under the arms, on our thighs, even around the eyelids. They are benign skin lesions composed of normal skin tissue and fat.
When skin tags can be a problem?
Skin tags are harmless and don't usually cause pain or discomfort but can be a problem when they get tangled in jewellery or clothing. If a skin tag is twisted on its stalk, a blood clot can develop within it and the skin tag may become painful.
At Cellsan Med spa we use electrocautery, which is the best solution to remove skin tags, as they have their own blood vessel supply and burning the base also puts a little scab on it.
Scabs during healing are advantageous because the skin tag is less likely to regrow and also and the skin tag is less likely to bleed — that’s not what anybody wants.
